Community Counseling of Bristol County Security Incident: What Happened?
Community Counseling of Bristol County, Inc. (CCBC), providing mental health services in Taunton and Attleboro, Massachusetts, is notifying individuals about a data breach affecting some of their information. The incident was discovered around May 20, 2024, when an unauthorized party accessed Community Counseling of Bristol County’s network.
In response, the organization initiated an investigation with cybersecurity experts. On April 25, 2025, this examination revealed that between May 18 and May 20, 2024, files containing protected health and personal information were stored in affected systems and may have been accessed without authorization. According to an online notice about the CCBC data breach, names, addresses, birth dates, Social Security numbers, and health insurance details may have been present in the affected systems. Notice letters should specify the data exposed for each individual.
According to a report submitted to the Maine Attorney General's Office, 45,960 individuals may have been affected by the data breach.
