Casper Orthopedics Security Incident: What Happened?
Casper Orthopedic Associates, a musculoskeletal care practice serving the Casper, Wyoming, area, has reported a data breach involving sensitive information.
According to a notice posted to its website, Casper discovered it was the victim of a cyberattack on or around May 23, 2026. Following an investigation with cybersecurity experts, the healthcare provider determined on June 11 of this year that an unauthorized party may have acquired sensitive information from the company's systems.
A review of the compromised data, completed on September 2, 2026, revealed that the Casper Orthopedics data breach may have affected names, dates of birth, driver's license numbers, Social Security numbers, financial account information and medical information. The degree of information affected varied by individual.
Casper Orthopedics began notifying individuals believed to be affected by the incident on September 8, 2026.
Prior to the official disclosure, hacker group Anubis claimed to be responsible for an attack on Casper Orthopedics that allegedly involved patients' data and medical records, according to a July 12, 2026 post on dark web intelligence platform Ransomware.live.
