As part of their investigation, they need to hear from patients who believe they may have been impacted.
Avantic Medical Lab Security Incident: What Happened?
On July 9, 2025, reports surfaced that Avantic Medical Lab, a clinical laboratory located in Edison, New Jersey, may have experienced a significant data breach affecting patient information. According to DataBreaches.net, the Everest ransomware group listed Avantic Medical Lab on its leak site on June 10, 2025, posting patient information to support its claims that it had stolen data from Avantic. On July 3, Everest released 31 GB of patient files online, DataBreaches.net reported.
According to the publication, the leaked data involves hundreds of patient files related to blood tests conducted in 2018 and additional data from more recent dates. Sensitive information revealed reportedly includes patients' names, addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, medical record numbers, referring doctors' information, health insurance providers, employer or group names, policy numbers, member IDs, claim IDs, blood draw dates, test types and results, explanation of benefits, diagnoses, insurer correspondence, and financial data (including check details and credit card information with expiration dates and CVV codes).
Avantic Medical Lab, which services physicians, adult day care centers, nursing homes, pharmacies, assisted living centers and urgent care centers in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, has yet to issue a public notice about the incident.
