Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the data breach impacting AppFolio.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
AppFolio Security Incident: What Happened?
AppFolio, Inc., a cloud-based business management solutions provider for the real estate industry, is notifying individuals about a data security incident that may have exposed names, addresses, dates of birth and Social Security numbers.
According to a letter provided to the Maine Attorney General’s office, on August 22, 2025, the company was informed about a cybersecurity incident impacting Salesloft, a sales enablement software vendor used by AppFolio. The incident involved unauthorized access to records in AppFolio’s hosted CRM system between August 8 and August 18, 2025.
An investigation of the data breach, which reportedly affected hundreds of organizations, found that the unauthorized access involved requests to retrieve data from a specific location in the CRM system that housed personal information. While the investigation could not pinpoint the exact records returned, on September 18, 2025, it concluded that the compromised records may have included private data.
On October 6, 2025, the company began mailing notice letters to those whose information may have been exposed in the data breach impacting AppFolio.
