Amgen Security Incident: What Happened?
Multibillion-dollar pharmaceutical company Amgen has disclosed a data breach in a Form 8-K filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on July 31, 2026.
Per the SEC filing, Amgen identified unauthorized activity in July 2026 involving data stored in cloud environments hosted by third-party providers and initiated an investigation with cybersecurity forensic experts. Amgen has since found that some of its data, including proprietary data and patient protected health information, had been exfiltrated from the cloud environments during the incident.
On July 29, the company concluded that the Amgen data breach is material due to the volume of files that appear to have been involved and the potential sensitivity of the exfiltrated information, though the investigation remains ongoing.
