Aligned Orthopedic Security Incident: What Happened?

ASC Ortho Management Company, operating as Aligned Orthopedic Partners and Aligned Orthopedic & Sports Therapy, has announced a data breach potentially affecting personal and protected health information. A notice on Aligned Orthopedic’s website states that the company detected unusual activity in its email environment on December 8, 2025 and enlisted cybersecurity experts to investigate.

The investigation concluded that unauthorized access occurred between November 16 and December 16, 2025. After a detailed review of the potentially compromised information completed on February 17, 2026, it was found that names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license or state identification numbers, Medicaid or Medicare numbers, financial account numbers, medical dates of service, medical provider names, mental or physical condition, medical treatment information, diagnosis or clinical information, prescription information, health insurance information, patient account numbers, and medical record numbers may have been compromised in the Aligned Orthopedic data breach.

Aligned Orthopedic, which operates eight practices in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, began mailing notification letters to potentially affected individuals on April 17.
