Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed over the November 2025 recall of ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula.
As of November 11, 2025 all batches of ByHeart’s Whole Nutrition Infant Formula, in both can and single-serve stick form, were recalled amid a botulism outbreak linked to baby formula.
The ByHeart recall encourages consumers to immediately stop using the formula and contact a medical provider immediately if their child develops symptoms of infant botulism.
The ByHeart formula recall, however, offers only limited refunds for products purchased through the site and leaves consumers on their own to return the formula to third-party retailers. A class action lawsuit could be filed to help consumers get their money back, as well as additional damages.
If you bought the recalled ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula, including the cans or Anywhere Pack sticks, fill out the form on this page. You may be able to help get a class action lawsuit started.
ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula Recalled Amid Botulism Outbreak
On November 8, 2025, ByHeart voluntarily issued a recall of its Whole Nutrition Infant Formula in light of an FDA investigation into an infant botulism outbreak. The recalled products included those with batch codes 251261P2 and 251131P2 with a use by date of December 1, 2026.
The FDA raised concerns about the products’ potential Clostridium botulinum contamination after a spike in infant botulism cases where, in 13 of approximately 83 reported cases between August 2025 and November 2025, the infant had received ByHeart formula prior to their illness.
On November 11, 2025, ByHeart expanded its recall to include all of its Whole Nutrition Infant Formula Products, offering limited refunds for certain formula purchases made directly from its website. Per ByHeart’s recall update, refunds are available for up to two units of ByHeart products purchased from ByHeart.com on or after October 1, 2025. First-time customers, the update says, are eligible for a full refund on their first order, but the update does not mention refunds for subsequent purchases.
Consumers who purchased the ByHeart formula through third-party retailers like Amazon and Target are left to attempt to receive refunds from those retailers without any assistance from ByHeart customer service.
Additionally, the ByHeart recall does not offer any recourse for parents to get their money back for the considerable cost of the many now-unusable ByHeart items not covered by the first purchase or two-unit refunds, nor does it offer compensation for any materials like bottles that may have been contaminated through contact with the formula or any potential damages caused by the formula.
Even with this update, when attempting to receive refunds, customers have reported that they were indeed only able to receive refunds for their first order, or that the company’s customer support lines were unresponsive or unhelpful.
Customers Voice Confusion, Concern Over ByHeart Formula Refunds
ByHeart users have taken to online forums such as Reddit seeking advice on how to get a refund for the considerable cost of the Whole Nutrition Infant Formula, often finding that ByHeart’s general customer service line is clogged or unresponsive.
Below is a sampling of posts from Reddit users discussing concerns about attempted ByHeart refunds [sic throughout]:
“I just bought 6 cans of byheart because they were running a promo and I wanted to take advantage of the savings. Not even 2 days later the recall happened, so here I am with 6 unopened cans of byheart… I emailed byheart to try and get a refund, but so far it’s been crickets. I’m on unpaid maternity leave, so those cans were a significant amount of money for our family to just throw away. Of course I still will toss them regardless of a refund or not, but it just stings knowing how much formula we had to waste due to byheart.”

“I’ve been told by ByHeart I’m only getting refunded my first order from them and not my other order. So I’m out an extra 240 bucksc”

“I also ordered during the sale on Thursday [November 6, 2025]. When the news came out on Saturday [November 8, 2025] I immediately checked and my order had not shipped so I emailed the company and asked for cancellation and refund. Then a few hours later I got the shipping notification and an email from them saying they would ‘cancel my order effective immediately’ but did not use the word refund. I asked for clarity on this and crickets. Opened a claim with my bank and adding in the screenshots of the thread so hopefully I am successful!”

How Could a ByHeart Recall Class Action Lawsuit Help?
If filed and successful, a class action lawsuit could help consumers get their money back for the recalled products, any auxiliary products that came into contact with the formula and other damages caused by the formula or its use.
At least two individual ByHeart formula botulism lawsuits have been filed by parents whose infants fell ill in the outbreak.
