NBCUniversal Settles Overtime Suits with Production Assistants
NBCUniversal production assistants have reason to celebrate this morning. On Tuesday, NBC agreed to settle two separate cases that alleged the company violated state and federal labor laws by failing to pay its production assistants properly. These employees worked for movies including “American Hustle” and the television series “The Blacklist.” The details of the settlement agreements are unknown at this time.
HP Gets Class Decertified in Overtime Case
HP scored a win this week when a California federal judge agreed to decertify the class in a wage and hour suit against it. U.S. Judge Beth Labson Freeman found that the case shouldn’t proceed as a class action because the tech support workers’ jobs are too different. For instance, she pointed out that the workers are paid differently, have different job duties and report to different managers.
Supplement Maker Hit with Class Action Over All Day Energy Greens Product
A class action lawsuit has been filed against supplement maker NaturMed Inc. claiming that the company sold a “toxic” all-natural energy drink. The suit, which was filed in Kentucky, claims that the company neglected to tell customers that some of its All Day Energy Greens products were contaminated. Even though NaturMed Inc. sent recall notices to those who purchased the drinks directly from the company, it knew that the products were often resold and failed to provide any further warning, according to the suit. It is believed that the drinks can lead to stomach upset, coma, dehydration and even death.
Hair Relaxer Lawsuits
Women who developed ovarian or uterine cancer after using hair relaxers such as Dark & Lovely and Motions may now have an opportunity to take legal action.
