Transworld Systems Inc. is the defendant in a proposed class action lawsuit that alleges the company violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) by failing to clearly identify a consumer’s creditor. The plaintiff says she received a letter from the debt collector that stated, “Facility: Stony Brook Radiology.” The suit argues that the letter failed to indicate whether Stony Brook was the original creditor, current creditor, or creditor to whom the alleged debt was owed. As a result, the letter is considered “deceptive” under the FDCPA, the suit says.
